We're adding a new item to our newsletter this month. We always want to extend a warm welcome to new members and now, we'll be making that more obvious. Please welcome the following new members to BAAPT:
This essay was written by Evelyn LaTorre in advance of our April 2015 meeting on Type and Culture. Evelyn has much experience with different cultures!
If the art on my walls could talk, it would tell of fishing on the Mekong Delta, harvesting rice on Bali terraces, and drying potatoes in Peruvian Mountains. In my guestroom, men hunt tigers in seventeenth century India and a jockey celebrates winning the Palio horserace in Siena, Italy. Art that delights my eyes surrounds me— yellow and purple flowers in chalk from Russia, red roses embroidered on silk from China and pink gladiolas in watercolors from England. My travels embrace me whenever I walk through my house. Get to know a Jungian scholar who has been with BAAPT for almost three years… I am originally from Taiwan, and my journey with MBTI® and Jungian psychology starts here. I was working as a psychotherapist in Taiwan for six years. While in Taiwan, I also worked at the Taiwan Institute of Psychotherapy, which was a community training center. While I worked here, I started using MBTI® and Jungian functions to help counsel others and guide them with their personal and professional development as part of an Employee Assistance Program. I was fascinated with Jungian psychology and liked how it assisted with analyzing psychological phenomena in different areas of the psyche. After attending John Beebe’s lectures in Taiwan and studying more about the eight-function model, I enrolled in the International Analytical Psychology Student program at the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco in 2011. I am now working towards a Doctor of Psychology degree at the Wright Institute with a focus on Jungian analytic training. I also provide counseling for clients on Skype. I have used type tremendously on a personal level. It has helped me with learning about the development and transformation of the psyche, integration with the self, and with intimate relationships. I have also used it professionally with clients in psychotherapy and in a corporate setting. At least once a year, I travel back to Taiwan to visit family, and I give workshops about Jungian functions and MBTI® back at the community training center. After finding out about BAAPT at the Jung Institute, I joined and have been amazed at the great speakers and wealth of information. I appreciate the friendliness of the BAAPT community, and enjoy discussing type and learning more about our members. |
